Grant County is Northern Kentucky’s southernmost county.  It’s located at the very top of the Bluegrass Region and is known as the gateway to the Bluegrass.  Grant County is within an hour of Lexington, Louisville, and Cincinnati. Grant County was established in 1820 and is named for a nearby settler, Samuel Grant, the son of William and Elizabeth Boone Grant, and the nephew of Daniel Boone.

Early pioneers heavily traveled the “dry ridge trace” (the Indian trail) which later became the Lexington-Covington Turnpike (a stagecoach route) and the line of travel for the Norfolk Southern Railroad.  After tool gates were taken down, it became what it is known as today, “Dixie Highway” or US 25.

Grant counties surrounding cities include, Dry Ridge, Crittenden, Corinth and Williamsburg.  Each city continues to grow due to its convenient location to the Cincinnati area, Lexington area and Louisville area.

Shopping, Dining and Entertainment

Plenty of shopping is around, especially if yo like antiques.  Other stores include outlet stores and various specialty shops.  Festivals are always beg and offer loads to do for the entire family.

Parks and Recreation

Grant County is home to seven lakes.  These lakes offer everything from fishing, to water sports and boating.  Eagle Creek Country Clubis located in Crittenden and features a Championship Golf Course, Junior Olympic Swimming Pool, and a full service clubhouse.

Living

Because of Grant Counties convenient location from Cincinnati, Lexington and Louisville, Grant County makes for the perfect place to live.  It’s easy to plan a day trip to any of the surrounding cities and still have time to unwind.  The average price of a home in Grant County is $165,000.

Schools, Health, Transportation

The Grant County Public School System includes K-12 schools.  Williamstown Independent School Districtis also K-12 and is ranked in the top 10 of all K-12 districts in Kentucky.  Northern Kentucky University has a branch in Grant County that offers expanded course offerings allowing student to take courses at NKU Grant County progressing toward continued coursework at the main campus.  St. Elizabeth Hospital is located in Williamstown and offers superb healthcare.  The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is within an hour of the county.
